The Turbine Transition course is for the Private or Commercially rated pilot who wants to progress onto flying larger turbine powered aircraft. The transition is carried out on the Bell 206BIII Jet Ranger. Stage I The course starts with five hours of ground training, which includes explanation and interpretation of the flight manual, instruments and the limitations associated with the aircraft. Upon successful completion of a written test, the student then moves to the hanger where a thorough pre-flight inspection is conducted. Stage II The instructor will guide the student through the start up procedures and checks required prior to flight. The following five hours of flight training will involve normal flight and ground procedures, and differences between piston and turbine engine performance maneuvers. In addition to this, the instructor and student will practice auto-rotations, running landings and slope landings. Stage III The instructor and student will post-flight and brief on torque and TOT limitations with inspection requirements if these limits are exceeded. Also, an in-depth discussion on the recognition of a low battery and the possibility of a hot-start will be covered. Turbine Transition Costs Dual Flight Instruction 5hrs $900.00 per hour = $4,500 TOTAL = $4,500
